The programs at Kid Magic offer the following two hour classes for ages 2.5 to 5 years old.
Early Literacy & Math
Children will build an appreciation of stories, poems, and nursery rhymes as the foundation of their early literacy growth at Kid Magic; experience with a wide range of children’s literature is part of our daily schedule. When building reading skills, children move from where their skill level begins (learning the letters, putting letters together, or reading) to as far as they can progress in our Early Start Reading. Learning to print starts with using varying media to form letters to using a pencil in our Learn To Print books in our program for Pre-K students. Our Early Start Reading and Learn To Print for Pre-K students is exclusive to Kid Magic; the author of both curriculums is Gail Nordstrand, MA Reading Specialist and director/owner of Kid Magic.
Active hands on activities engage children as they develop their math skills. From recognition, formation and learning the value of numbers 1-10 and higher to counting or learning the days of the week and telling time by the hour, learning is fun and participation is hands on.
Art, Drama, Music & Science
Young learners engage in hands on art activities with varying media that let them explore art as a process not a product. Children create their own art, rather than copying a teacher created project.
Drama encourages self-confidence and participation that is based on the wonderful imagination that children have.
The joy of singing, moving to music, and making their own instruments allows children to explore different ways to enjoy various kinds of music.
In science children participate through both observation and experimentations that help describe and explain the natural phenomena in our world.
